Which versions of Word are supported?

Word 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021 and Microsoft 365 — corporate editions too. Windows 7 to 11. Excel and PowerPoint — the same versions. The add-in interface is available in Uzbek, Russian or English (the “Settings” button).

What if Chrome or Windows shows a warning?

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. Checking runs on our server, so the dictionary is always up to date and your computer is not slowed down.

Are my texts stored anywhere?

No. Spell checking runs on our server and text is not stored. For translation, text is sent to an external translation service (Microsoft or Anthropic). Details in our privacy policy.

How does translation work?

Pick a language from the “Translate” button in Word: Uzbek (Latin or Cyrillic), Russian or English. Selected text is translated in place; if nothing is selected, the translation opens in a new document. Requires signing in.

Does it check Cyrillic text?

Yes. Documents are checked whether written in Latin or Cyrillic script, and suggestions come in the same script.

What about Russian or English words in a document?

They are not flagged: Xato.uz detects the language of every paragraph. Mistakes in Russian and English words are corrected by that language’s rules — for example, “Обшие” becomes “Общие”. Punctuation issues (extra spaces, repeated words) are marked in blue.
